Implementation of IMDG Code Amendment 42-24

To ensure the highest standards of safety in the maritime transport of dangerous goods, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has adopted the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code Amendment 42-24 (2024 Edition).

The IMO regulation allows for a one-year transition period, permitting the voluntary application of Amendment 42-24 starting from January 1, 2025, with mandatory compliance from January 1, 2026. However, to ensure a safe and seamless transition in our systems, ONE will enforce mandatory compliance with Amendment 42-24 for all new DG applications starting November 1, 2025.

We kindly request that you take note of the schedule below when planning your shipments of dangerous goods and preparing your related documentation.

2. Dangerous Goods (DG) Application Requirements

Effective November 1, 2025, all new Dangerous Goods (DG) booking information must be
submitted under Amendment 42-24.

3. Action Required from Shippers

• Compliance Mandate: You must ensure that the classification, packing, marking, labeling, and documentation are fully compliant with the provisions of IMDG Code Amendment 42-24.
• Vessel Operator Policy: Please note that when cargo is booked on a vessel not operated by ONE, the requirements of the vessel operator (the actual carrier) may differ from ONE's policy. In these cases, you are required to comply with each operator's specific acceptance policy for submitting the necessary dangerous goods documentation.
• Key Changes: We advise you to review the specific changes introduced in Amendment 42-24, such as updates for lithium batteries, stricter regulations for carbon (UN1361/1362), and new UN numbers, by referring to the official publications from the IMO or other regulatory
  bodies.
